//The Site Rules\\
So, looks like you're interested in joining DA! Let's go over the most important items you should be cognizant of.
Getting Started
Hi. Do I have to have seen Person of Interest to join?
Not at all. The plot of this board is based on Person of Interest (hereafter "PoI"), but as long as you can grasp the basic ideas of the show, you should be fine. However, we definitely recommend seeing the series. An overview of the series and our site's plot can be found here.
Okay. Where can I find more information about the Machine and such?
There is a fairly well-detailed PoI wiki, and the Wikipedia page on the show is informative as well. You can also ask any of the members who are familiar with the show, which includes the staff.
Technical Stuff
Is there a minimum word requirement for posts?
Not really. We'd like at least two healthy paragraphs for any given RP post. Other than that, there is no word minimum, or maximum.
I want a graphic in my signature. How big can it be?
Your sig should be no larger than 500x250. This does not include any graphics that may be added by the staff.
Okay. What about other graphics, such as headers?
Just don't make them annoyingly huge.
The Application Process
Where do I sign up?
Everything you'll need is in the Registration board. There is an application template that you should use here, and a guide to using that template here.
Awesome! Can I play Reese/Finch/Carter/someone else in the show?
No. This site is meant to feature original characters. The canon characters are staff NPCs; if they are used, they will be used by the staff only.
Oh. Can my character be a relative of Reese/Finch/etc, or have known them?
That's unlikely. Relatives will absolutely not be allowed. Having been acquainted with a canon character may be allowed in special cases, at admin discretion.
Can I make a vampire/werewolf/mutant/other non-human creature?
No. The characters in PoI are all normal humans, as far as we can tell, so we're going to stick with that.
What's a celeb claim?
The celeb claim is a person that will represent your character in graphics and such. It's also called the "face claim" or "playby" on other sites. The CC helps others to visualize your character, and helps you understand their appearance better, and can be used in graphics and other materials.
Cool. Is there anyone I can't pick?
Yes. You can't use a celeb that is already in use. A list of those can be found here. Also, we ask that you use a real person of at least moderate fame- that means no cartoon or anime characters, or so on.
Is there an age limit for the CCs here?
Yes. The celeb claim's age should be within five years of the character's age. For example, if the CC you choose is 25 years old, your character can be anywhere from 20 to 30 years old.
Can I use a photo from anywhere?
Not exactly. It isn't as simple as grabbing a photo from Google and slapping it between img tags. That's called hotlinking, and is generally frowned upon. When using photos, we ask that you upload the photos to photo-sharing sites such as ImageShack, Photobucket, or TinyPic.
The mod that reviewed my bio called my character a Mary Sue. What's that?
A Mary Sue is a character that is just too perfect, annoyingly so. For more information, try this Wikipedia article. To find out if your character really is a Sue, try this litmus test.
What are factions?
The factions are the groups your character may be affiliated with. Also, on your application, where you are asked if you read the rules, reply by saying: Fur boats. You must ask permission before applying to be part of a faction.
Can I start a faction?
Yes, eventually. However, you will have to talk it over with the staff, to ensure that your idea fits the current board plots. When applying for a faction, you may be asked to use some of your in-game money.
Can I steal a bio from somewhere else, or steal a character concept from somewhere else, and just use that?
No. Plagiarizing the works of others is not allowed. Simple as that.
