Manhattan08:02 PMThe cab soon crossed the RFK Bridge and reached Lexington avenue after having stopped at the signals on 2nd Avenue where she almost gave in to the urge to stop for Donuts at Dunkin´s. She paid the driver and got her beige holdall out of the trunk and pulled her jacket tighter. It really was colder here. She almost missed the heat in Manaus. Watching at the third floor apartment from the pavement she wondered if she was doing the right thing to return to the big city. Life dowm south was more laid back, less drama more fun. Guess duty played a role here. Summer was over and it was time to do some real work. But first she had to find a good Java. Mills walks past the entrance to scout out the block. With any luck she´d stumble upon an espresso bar or something.

If there was anywhere to find his guest at this time, it would be at or near the Lexington apartment, Morgan was sure. He had barely used that apartment in the past few months, preferring instead to head home to another flat he had. The Lexington place had many memories from years long past; he'd had the place for a very long time, since he could afford it. He had been married then, and had been raising Janice for much of the time. She'd held sleepovers for her friends there. He remembered them as clearly as though they had happened just the day before.
The past was not somewhere he wanted to dwell. So he had shed it, slowly but completely in time. He held on to few things - perhaps some trinkets that reminded him of his deceased business partner, Terrence Monk, and of course some contacts that had proven useful to him in the past. One never knew when they might be of use again.
He had woken up early again that morning, and was already dressed and ready to go. He would go see the apartment and check whether it was suitable for a visitor. He should have done so before, but work and worry had taken its toll on him, and he had collapsed into bed the night before for another night of almost-sleep. But it was morning now, and time to get things done.
Before leaving, he picked up a few papers and stuffed them into a briefcase. The papers were all he had gotten on the individuals Lucy would be looking for. An ID photo in one case, a blurry security camera photo for another, and a mugshot for the club owner. There was also information on the club and the sort of businesses it offered. As he had read it, Morgan had been horrified to learn that his daughter had felt the need to work at such an establishment.
He left his home and walked the several blocks to the apartment. The day was a good one for a walk, as days in New York went. Besides, he needed the exercise. He had been slacking a little, ignoring his usual morning jogging routine.
As he reached the apartment, he saw Lucy walking by, suitcase in hand. With a nod, he walked a little faster so as to reach her. She would likely notice him walking toward her.
"Good morning," he called, giving her a small smile. Once he was close enough, he reached out a hand to shake hers. "It's good to see you again."

Appearing to be genuinely surprised to bump into Simons on the street, Lucy looked baffled, "Not just yet, the coffee shivers. .. Where´s that hole in the wall, Jake´s?" She pulled him close and hugged him. "Great seeing you, Morgan. All good?" While being close, she smiled and whispered. "Been at the bank, already?" Realizing the street had too many ears, she didn´t mention anything about the job. She looked up at the third floor. He seemed to be alone, no sign of any surveillance. But then again, that didn´t mean there weren´t any.

Although he did not know Mills all that well, it was still something of a relief to see her. She would figure out what had gone on with Janice. That would be a step toward solving at least one of his problems, hopefully without creating any more.
He gave her a grin when she mentioned Jake's, and hugged her back. The old coffee place would be good for having a quick talk, as no one would particularly pay attention to their conversation. The owner was known for keeping his mouth shut, and the patrons were not the nosy sort. Morgan had frequented the place for some time.
"Pretty good," he said, releasing her from the hug. "I hope you had an enjoyable trip."
She asked, quietly, whether he had been to the bank. "I'm way ahead of you," he assured her with a smile. He had made the preparations discreetly, even though no one would be looking at his bank account. It never hurt to be cautious.
"Should we go for coffee, or would you like to leave your things upstairs first?" he asked. Either option was fine with him. As long as they could get the formalities out of the way.

"Let´s get these things to the flat, then I´ll get a shower and we´re off to Jake´s." Mills crossed Lexington and pulled the door open and held it for Simons as he took the lead up the stairs past an elevator with a sign on it. Down for maintenance "Good thing you don´t have the top floor!", she commented from below.
Inside the flat, Lucy threw off her jacket and unpacked her bag, got out a fresh change. Before hitting the shower, she put her laptop on charge.
From the bathroom, she asked Morgan, "How did your daughter wind up at the club?" She undressed and found a rack of towels, picked out a thick, red one and started the shower.
The trip had been good, but long. A coffee after a shower was always preferred over the other way around. Everything was better after a shower, she smiled to herself.
From what she remembered of Club Apocalypse it was located in the basement of the Teese high rise. When she last had been there she had hitched a ride with a helicopter from the roof. To the east, Harlem River bent north west. Further in the distance Laguardia was visible next to Riker´s island. What was the address? E128 street and Lexington. Four blocks from the apartment.

It had been some time since Morgan had visited the Lexington apartment, and he was surprised to see the Down for Maintenance sign on the elevator. How inconvenient. However, when Lucy commented on his not being on the top floor, he quipped, "Well, in that case, I would have called it 'good exercise'!"
As for how Janice had wound up at the club, Morgan answered a little slowly. "I'm not sure. According to reports, she was working there." His tone made it clear that he still was not happy with that news. If she had needed money, she should have asked him for help - but no, she had been too proud, or perhaps too angry at him, to do that, and had wound up in trouble instead.
He waited as Lucy took a shower, and busied himself with straightening up the apartment. A cleaning crew was meant to come in ever now and then to keep the place from getting dusted or overrun by critters, but Morgan was not sure when they had been in last. There was not much to be done, though, and by the time Lucy was finished, he had the place looking a bit better.
"Ready to go?" he asked once she was dressed and had collected the things she would need. By now, he was a little hungry as well, and figured a stop in at Jake's would be a good idea. A warm drink and a sandwich would go nicely with the conversation they would need to have.

All freshened up, Mills joined Simons to Jake´s. Before leaving the apartment Simons shared the contents of the attache bag.
Over at Jake´s, the two ordered and took a corner table by the large window facing the busy street. Lucy´s Biscetta Pomodoro arrived with a side of goat cheese. She sipped her Stella Artois and said. "I get that you want me to check up on those two individuals. Plus visiting the venue to look into their employee logs. Possibly I can get all we need from the venue´s own cameras. If I can gain access there." She started on her sandwich and commented. "This is really tasty." She dabbed her chin with one of the linen napkins.

There was no reason to walk around with a ton of information and money, so before they left for Jake's, Morgan showed Lucy what it held and left most of it where it could be secured. He had learned to be very careful about these sorts of things.
Once they had settled into a booth at Jake's, Morgan ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on croissant and a coffee, black. He didn't really need the caffeine boost, but at least it was still early and the coffee would be out of his system well before he tried to sleep again.
"That sounds about right," Morgan said as Lucy went over what he wanted her to do. "As for the two individuals, I just want to know who they are and whether they have any connection to the club. If they were just bystanders who chose to help Janice at the time, then I suppose I owe them some thanks."
He took a sip of his coffee. It tasted like coffee, nothing special about it as far as he could tell. He wasn't even sure what roast he had ordered. He chided himself silently for not paying attention to those minute details.
"As for the venue… I want the owner to understand why he should not cross my family again." He spoke calmly, but there was an undercurrent of anger in his tone. Not at Lucy, of course, just at the situation the club's owner had caused. "If you could get the footage and logs, that'd be great."
His sandwich had gone untouched so far. Taking a bite of it, he nodded as she commented on the food. "It is quite good." Setting it aside, he asked, "Is there anything you need from me to get started? Any… equipment? Access to technology?"

Mills sips on the coffee and says, "Nah, I´m good. It´s like returning to the corner bar. Once you´ve been there, you know it. That being said, this particular club has some surprises... I´ll head over there and check it out and see what I can get from Hubert." With that she leaves a ten dollar note on the table and leaves Morgan at the small table.
Outside Jake´s- The Teese building is not too far away, so Lucy buttons her jacket and started a brisk walk north. Soon she has left the comfort zone of the apartment buildings which now is replaced with run down warehouses and shut down subway stations. She passes the old Lexington station and gives the flaked green paint a brush with her left hand. Ahead there is no more pedestrians. They had dropped off four blocks ago.
OOC: Sorry for dropping off like that. All well?
